Project Progress Update #17: Apology for the Delays in Game Development / Regarding Future Updates
over 4 years ago

Greetings everyone,
Some of the information in this update has been already shared with you in a public comment we posted a few days ago, but we will do so again today so that it reaches all backers.
■ About the current status of the PC version of the game
In the previous update, we told you the scripting of the game had finished and that we were in the final stages of debugging. To be more precise, the debug process was divided into two main tasks:
Debug of the game engine first to check it runs properly in many environments.
Debug of the game itself by scripters and play testers so that they can find any possible problems inside the actual game.
At the time of our previous update, we were in the middle of the first task, performing any fixes needed for issues as we encountered them in order to advance to the second stage.
We had planned to share our next update when the second part of debugging started, as we wanted to include in it screenshots and videos of the actual game as it was being tested. However, we kept finding unexpected issues in the first debugging stage that prevented us from moving to the next one, and as such, this update was postponed multiple times as well.
This led us to a long silence in which we couldn’t say anything, causing unnecessary stress to our backers, and for this we apologize.
Even though currently we still haven’t been able to fix all the issues found during the first debugging phase, this doesn’t mean development has been halted. We are working as hard as possible to fix all issues and keep up progressing on the development of the game, please rest assured.
This information pertains to the PC version of the game. About the Vita version, as we shared in previous updates, we are currently in the latest stages of finishing our agreement with Eastasiasoft Limited, and we will inform you about the Vita version in future updates.
■ Future scheduled periodic updates
Due to our lack of prevision about the potential issues that could arise during development, we kept delaying this update for a long time, worrying our backers. Members of the project team have reflected on this and agreed to create a scheduled periodic update.
The method we have chosen to share these updates with you is adding the Sharin no Kuni project to the list of crowdfunding projects managed by Frontwing, and thus, adding it as well to their “Frontwing Monthly Schedule Update” that takes place every end of the month.
By doing this, we believe we will be able to inform you in a periodic, monthly manner, about small progress updates that do not qualify for an update of their own.
Of course, if there is any significant development in this project, we will post a separate update as usual.
This is everything we can share with you at this moment, and again, please let us apologize for our long silence.
Even though our project team is moving way slower than we would like, we will not abandon the project, and our will to keep moving forward no matter what happens has not changed. We would be delighted if you would stay with us for a little while more.
Project Progress Update #16: About the Change in VITA Publishers
almost 5 years ago

(* 日本語バージョンはページ下部にございます)
Greetings,
In our previous update, we shared with you the news of a change in the publisher that is going to take care of production and distribution of the VITA version, and today we want to announce the name of the company.
■ Change of publishers of the VITA version to Eastasiasoft Limited
First, we want to announce the change from our first designated publisher, Limited Run Games (LRG), located in North America, to Eastasiasoft Limited (EAS), based in Hong Kong. Our contract with the former has been dissolved, and a new one has been established with the latter.
The main reason for our change to EAS was to avoid the problem presented by the North American production period of the VITA finishing.
Although at the beginning and after recognizing the problem that the limited production period posed, we worked together with LRG with a schedule that enabled us to meet the North American deadline, delays in the development of the game gradually increased the risk of not meeting it. To avoid that, all partners decided to establish this new agreement with Hong Kong-based EAS.
It was LRG themselves the ones that introduced us to EAS, a company that up until now has successfully produced many VITA titles, and we all have great faith in them. Please rest assured that this will absolutely not present any kind of change in the quality of the game.
Even if this change of publishers has taken place, we want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to LRG, not only for helping us through all the process while we were having development issues and for waiting until the last moment to proceed with the North American production, but also for offering us the possibility of continuing with our project through the help of EAS even with these many difficulties.
From now on, with the help of EAS, we will both do our best to offer you the highest quality product in the shortest time possible. Right now, our production schedule is still being revised, but we will let everyone know in an update as soon as a more concrete one is decided.
■ About Steam version development progress
We need to deeply apologize, since in our previous update we told everyone that the game was in its latest stages of development and it would be submitted to Steam shortly. However, a serious problem appeared that has forced us to extend debugging time.
Although we have now a clear understanding of the problem and ways to fix it, we need to be honest and say that it will take time to do so, and that according to our current schedule and estimations we are working to have it finished in early Autumn. We will share more information about concrete dates in a future update as soon as we can.
■ A preview of the Deluxe Game Box!
We also have good news today.
Below you can find a sample of how the physical deluxe game box will look like!
We are very glad that we can showcase this today.
To finish this update, we must apologize again for not only another delay in our schedule, but for all the inconveniences and stress that this is always causing our backers.
We have encountered all kinds of difficulties along the way, but something has not changed: all the project’s team wish of working until we can deliver your rewards to all of you. Please kindly watch over us until the end.
Project Progress Update #15: Apology for Project Delays and Notification of Change of Publisher and Manufacturer of the VITA Version
almost 5 years ago

(* 日本語バージョンはページ下部にございます)
Greetings,
First of all, we want to deeply apologize for the fact that it’s taken us such a long time to publish this update and for all the inconvenience and anxiety this has caused for our backers. Today we want to share with you all the information we can disclose at this point.
Development of the VITA version
As we announced in a previous update, development of the VITA version has been completed and it is now in the final stages of its production. However, as we cannot disclose its current status in full due to contract restrictions with the publishers, we want to use this chance to let you know as much as possible.
In summary, the team has decided to cancel our current contract with our previous publisher, Limited Run Games (LRG), and entrusted the manufacturing and part of the distribution of the physical VITA version to a different company.
The reason for cancelling our previous contract and changing partners is not due to any kind of problem between us and Limited Run Games, but to the development troubles that this project has been suffering and the subsequent delays provoked by them. Essentially, the risk of not meeting the manufacturing deadlines for printing the game in North America (were Limited Run Games is based) became too high.
Our initial plan was to increase the priority of the VITA development in order to meet the deadlines that LRG shared with us, and we devised a schedule that would have led us, in principle, to be able to deliver a product to LRG on time. But, since this schedule was really tight, it didn't allow any space for unexpected issues to be found during any of the development or checking processes.
At that point, Limited Run Games offered us the possibility of eliminating the risk related to not meeting the North American deadline by releasing us from our previous contract and allowing us to partner with a publisher that would not be affected by this deadline. LRG introduced us to this new publisher, and from that point onwards we began drafting our new contract.
We would very much like to share the name of our new publisher with our backers, but as the new contract is still in its final stages, we cannot disclose that information at this time. However, we would like to state that Frontwing has faith in this new publisher to provide a high-quality product and we will share more information with our backers as soon as possible.
Although this is adding to the continued delays in the development that the VITA version is undoubtedly suffering, we can safely say its production is still ongoing.
However, we absolutely understand that these changes and delays are causing inconveniences to all of our backers and we wish to express our apologies that we cannot reveal more about the situation. Please rest assured that we are all working as hard as possible to give you more information as soon as we can.
Development of the Steam version
The game itself is now in the final debugging stages, but due to the age of the software, some problems related to getting everything to the quality expected by our backers is taking more time than what the team initially expected. More specifically, the game sometimes crashed when launched on systems running newer Windows OS.
The problem mentioned above was solved by replacing the entire base program and, although there are still some minor fixes left, they are not as severe, and so we will soon be submitting the game to Steam for the evaluation process.
In the next update we also plan to share some captures from the game. After the game is submitted and preparations are finished, we will also be able to let you know a more concrete release date for the digital version. Until then, we must ask you to wait a little bit longer.
This project is the result of the cooperation between many developers and publishers, and the project team takes responsibility for not being able to adhere to the initial schedule and want to deeply apologize for it.
However, as always we are still determined to deliver both the game and its rewards. Thank you for your infinite patience.
Project Progress Update #14: Merchandise Production Update
about 5 years ago
– Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 01:19:12 AM
Greetings everyone,
Today we’d like to share with you some more merchandise samples that are arriving at our office. This time we want to showcase both the Hozuki quote T-shirt and the full color graphic T-shirt featuring the three main heroines of the game!
The add-on exclusive Hozuki T-shirt was available during the campaign in both black and white versions. You can see how they both look below!
Featuring an elegant and simple design in very comfortable 100% cotton fabric, this T-shirt contains one of the most famous quotes by this memorable character:
“People who can only do what they’ve been told are third-rate.
Those who can do what they’ve been told skillfully are second-rate.
When exactly do you plan on becoming first-rate, Morita?”
Next, we have the full-graphic heroine T-shirt!
This one is made from a breathable polyester mesh-type fabric, with Natsumi, Sachi and Toka all looking very cute in cat ears!
We hope you enjoyed our little preview of the Hozuki and full-graphic heroine T-shirts! We took great care in manufacturing them, from selecting the best fabrics to ensuring the printing color quality came out as good as possible. We're working hard to deliver these to you as soon as we can!
We also want to apologize about not being able to provide more information at this time about the game’s development for Steam and Vita as we mentioned we would do in our last update due to due to contractual reasons with the manufacturer. We will give you more information in a separate update. Thank you for your patience.
